Patriam: Conquest
Hearts of Iron IV
2018-2019
Patriam: Conquest was a videogame mod for the popular grand strategy videogame "Hearts of Iron IV".
Patriam: Conquest allowed players to choose a nation during a Patriamic era known as "The War of The Five Nations". After selecting one of the many unique and in-depth nations, players would then be able to forge a new destiny for their Kingdom, Republic, Empire, or other such nationstate.
Unfortunately, due to significant changes to Hearts of Iron IV's source code by its developer, Paradox Interactive, it was no longer viable to continue development and providing support to Patriam: Conquest, and thus the project was shelved with the Patriam: Conquest team joining on to help with Patriam: Minecraft and eventually Patriam: The Sagas of War.
Patriam: The Age of Kings
Minecraft
2020-2021
Patriam: The Age of Kings was a videogame project that simulated The Patriam Universe during an era known as "The Age of Kings" within the game engine of Minecraft.
Focus was put upon players creating their own characters within The Patriam Universe and acting "in-character" at all times while playing. This created an immersive and engaging gameplay experience with espionage, trade route raiding, ambushes, political intrigue, and siege battles playing an important part in the ever-changing territories.
The project was a collaboration with a team of talented and creative people who would go on to found Patriam Studios as a development entity.
Following a hugely successful release and widespread community praise, myself and my team ended Patriam: The Age of Kings and began work on Patriam: Infinitus in early 2022.
Patriam: Infinitus
Minecraft
2022-2023
Patriam: Infinitus was an Open-World RPG Minecraft server set within The Patriam Universe. With quests, a variety of different NPC Cities and Villages, ruins and mysterious "Precursor Sites" to explore, and the ability to shape your character's destiny in whatever way you see fit.
Patriam: Infinitus will felt like stepping into a huge, vibrant, and populated new world with near-limitless possibilities.
Geopolitics had always been a key component of Patriam and its stories. Patriam: Infinitus continued this focus with a big emphasis on player-led nations, roleplay, and interactions.
As a nation, players have the opportunity to build vast cities, towering forts, sprawling infrastructure systems, and more, as well as having the ability to engage in trade, diplomacy, political intrigue, and if all else fails, war.
Using Minecraft's game engine as the base for Patriam: Infinitus, survival was a huge part of player experience and gameplay.
Despite all of the political intrigue, questlines to do, and glory to seek, survival remained the fundamental objective of every player and was a primary driver in their decision making.
Having to take into consideration supply lines for their armies, avoiding dangerous areas when travelling, planning expeditions and ensuring there is enough food and supplies to last. Survival was, and continued to be, an essential part of Patriam: Minecraft.
Patriam: The Chronicles of Argonia
Minecraft
2023-2024
Patriam: The Chronicles of Argonia was the last edition of Patriam: Minecraft and was released in October of 2023.
Set millennia before The Age of Kings and Infinitus, Patriam: The Chronicles of Argonia tells the story of the rebirth of human civilisation following The Great Catastrophe and the origins of Patriamic civilisation.
Players, were tasked with joining one of the many Argonian "Houses", each of which had their own unique identity and culture, and had to expand both their own regional power via wars between city states of the same House as well as Inter-House warfare over the vital but finite resources on the Argonian continent.
Eventually a single city-state became powerful enough to declare itself the rulers of Argonia with its leader becoming known as "The Antaelaen" - the Emperor of Argonia.
Patriam: The Chronicles of Argonia marked a departure from modded Minecraft and the much wider scope of Patriam: Infinitus as Patriam: The Chronicles of Argonia operated with a significantly reduced team and a focus on automation. This was because much of the Patriam Studios team had moved on to begin work on the first Patriam videogame, set to be developed within Unreal Engine 5 and titled "Patriam: The Sagas of War".
